The Office for Research Careers’ (ORC) mission is to support the professional needs of the research community at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The ORC strives to support research trainees and faculty across the academic continuum by providing resources to support and promote career and professional development, enhance the training experience, and foster effective mentoring.
The ORC collaborates with the Brigham Research Institute, Postdoctoral Association, and Center for Diversity and Inclusion to offer a myriad of opportunities to the diverse research community.

English as a Second Language: Spring 2021

This ESL course is offered semesterly at Brigham and Women’s by FLS International Language School. The course is geared towards postdoctoral fellows. It is designed to improve verbal communication skills to integrate non-native speakers into their English-speaking environments. Class instruction is highly interactive and conversation-based. The Spring 2021 course will be taught via Zoom. Applications are due Monday, January 25.

2020 Postdoc Scholar Award for Excellence in Mentoring
2020 nominations are open through August 21. This award recognizes postdoctoral fellows’ efforts in mentoring fellow postdocs, students or interns on research projects and/or career development. Fellows can be nominated by PIs, postdocs, students, research staff, and/or self-nomination. Winners are awarded a cash award of $1,000 and recognized at the annual National Postdoc Appreciation Week in September.
