The Office for Research Careers’ (ORC) mission is to support the professional needs of the research community at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The ORC strives to support research trainees and faculty across the academic continuum by providing resources to support and promote career and professional development, enhance the training experience, and foster effective mentoring.

The ORC collaborates with the Brigham Research Institute, Postdoctoral Association, and Center for Diversity and Inclusion to offer a myriad of opportunities to the diverse research community.

Seeking Applications: Office for Research Careers Faculty Director

We are accepting applications for a new Faculty Director to lead the Office for Research Careers. Qualified candidates will hold a PhD and/or MD degree (or equivalent), be actively engaged in research at BWH, have attained an HMS faculty rank of Assistant Professor or above and have demonstrated a strong commitment to mentorship in the academic medical setting with experience and interest in advancing research careers. It is anticipated that candidates will be able to devote 10-20% effort to this role. See job description here for details on duties and expectations. Deadline extended to August 1, 2022.

2022 Postdoc Scholar Award for Excellence in Mentoring

2022 nominations are open through Monday, July 18, 2022 at 11PM. This award recognizes postdoctoral fellows’ efforts in mentoring fellow postdocs, students or interns on research projects and/or career development. Fellows can be nominated by PIs, postdocs, students, research staff, and/or self-nomination. Winners are awarded a cash award of $1,000 and recognized at the annual National Postdoc Appreciation Week in September.

Nominate by July 18, 2022.

BWHPDA: Hike at the Middlesex Fells

Join the PDA Networking Committee for a morning hike this Saturday! Meet at the S. Border Road Parking Lot at 9:30am, or join us in transit on the Orange Line at the Ruggles (8:20am) or Downtown Crossing (8:30am) stations. We will take the South and Middle Reservoirs trail, which is a 5.6 mile easy-moderate loop that will take about 2 hours. Bring your own picnic-style lunch, we will provide light snacks. Families and friends welcome. More details to follow on sign-up.
